Undertale: Memory (Music box) flute cover,Gaming,video game cover,video game music,flute cover,fan cover,undertale,memory,music box,lauren the flute,musicbox,umbrella,statue,Here's something different -- a little idea that popped into my head and then I couldn't do anything else at all until I'd finished making it. Note that I HAVE NOT finished Undertale yet, so please no spoilers! I figured out this little melody by ear for the piano and was very proud of myself for solving that puzzle. But then the people in my Twitch chat (since I'm streaming this at http://twitch.tv/LaurentheFlute ) convinced me that maybe I should try to play it on flute, and then I just kept thinking about it ... and thinking about it ... and how beautiful and sad and wistful the tune was. And I couldn't help wondering what that statue's history was. So, here's a kind of thematic exploration of MY GUESS about what the history/backstory is like. I know that once upon a time monsters lived happily on the surface. I'm not sure who this statue is or was, but for me, I thought maybe the melody was a reminder of that good time, long ago. So here it is interpreted as a memory of times long past, when instead of an empty lonely cave there was a tight-knit community living together. Listen to the music box, close your eyes, and imagine you're being taken back to that time and that place. (Ultimately, we all know that time ended in war and destruction -- and now all we have is a ruined statue, in an abandoned cavern.) I'm going to keep playing this game and we will see whether my prediction and my feelings are grounded in anything real! I'm excited to find out. I love that the game's world and story have so many layers. Expect to see more Undertale covers from me over the next little while. I already have my sights set on several -- one for my band, a few for me solo. So watch this space. And I MAY be cosplaying as Toriel with my band when we play at PAX South!
